Inspection vs. Service — and why the difference matters.
I was in a plant room yesterday, which powers a heat network, where things just weren’t right. Equipment was on, but it wasn’t operating as it should. Design intent was being ignored, where the property management company and residents were feeling the effects - higher bills, poor performance, and unnecessary disruption.

Here’s the problem:
Too many people are paying for inspections, thinking they’re getting a service.
🔍 An inspection is a tick-box exercise:
Is it on?
Is it leaking?
Are there any faults evident?
Pass or Fail. Boxes ticked. Job done.
But… is it running efficiently?
Is it delivering what it should be?
Are losses being minimised?
Is the network optimised?
None of that gets checked during a basic inspection.
🔧 A service is different.
A proper service is about performance.
It’s about bringing equipment up to standard - whether that’s based on original design specification, or a clearly defined operational goal.
If your plant room and HIUs aren’t being brought back to that intended standard during each PPM visit, it’s a missed opportunity. At best, you’re maintaining the status quo. Quite likely, the performance of your network will be degrading.
If you’re serious about improving efficiency, cutting costs, and delivering better outcomes for residents — then you need more than just inspections.
At DR HIU Servicing, we do more than check if things appear to be OK on the surface.
We make sure they’re working as they should, for the long-term.
