About HIUs
Heat interface units replace the need for an individual gas or electric boilers in a property. Connected to a centralised heat network, they deliver instant heating and hot water.
HIUs offer great energy and cost saving opportunities for homeowners, with heat meters measuring energy consumption for accurate billing. They are extremely popular within apartment buildings or clusters of homes within a heat network.
About Heat Networks
Known as communal and district heating schemes, heat networks are a lower carbon way to heat buildings. Instead of homes having individual gas boilers, for heat networks there is one central boiler room (or plant room) that provides heating and hot water to each property via a network of insulated pipes.
Heat networks offer a low-carbon source of energy and are a key element to the UK successfully achieving its carbon targets by 2050.
